Would be interesting if you could supply us a breakdown of the prices for the build after your all done. Many times that's the first thing a person considers prior to taking on a project, then time I guess. Anyway, I am sure your excited about finishing it and I look forward to seeing it all done. That paint job is cool!

desertsniper 700 please think about what you said. you are thinking about spending such a small amount on your scope and bipod those are the most important part,s of your rifle my granddad told me one time do it wright or dont do it at all.  He was a very smart man died at a 102 listen to the old timers and learn

Yeah, I understand this concept all to well lol. I'm buying a new (better) bi-pod for my 700 and donating my harris to this project. I have been back and forth on this scope issue I want a descent scope but not a schmitt&bender or night force... Any suggestions?

I like the SWFA Super Sniper personally, but Barska makes reasonably priced qualitty scopes as well. I like the Mil Dot type reticles. What kind of scope mount are you using on this? Scout?

Scratch that mount question, I see you got the AT, so you can get any scope you want really. Here's a site you might like: http://swfa.com/Riflescopes-C1443.aspx

after much concideration i just might end up going this route  http://cbrps.com/Products.html

it will be simpler and more functional. no need to drill and tap the reciever and no trigger mods. just this a bipod and a scope.

have you ever looked thru a scout scope, if not try it, its slick how you can keep both eyes open and it has x3 mag or so, not a lot but enuff for quick target transfer. I like it over a commen red dot, never looked thru a red dot with magnifcation but just an idea, it all depends what you want to do with it

took this crazy thing out on sunday, it shot well! although i did not have time to get it zeroed, as it was getting pretty cold out. The recoil (with the muzzle break and the limbsaver pad i bubba'd on) was almost less then my 308! for any one who has shot the mosin more then 10 rounds, you know what i mean. i shot my 308 a few times, good grouping and soid hits. then the mosin, i forgot how much more powerful these rounds were! when they hit the hillside i thought they were anti tank rounds by all the dust and debris that was kicked up!

I've built a sporterized Mosin, the main problem I found with doing a bent bolt conversion is that recoil loosens them up no matter how tight you get the screw or color loc-tite you use. I weld the handle right to the bolt. You can really tighten your groups up with handloads as well but, you need to "slug the barrel to find out what dia. it actually is. Although they are designated 7.62mm mine was actually .311 not .308. I use Sierra projectiles inteded for the .303 British which is .311. I'll post some pics soon

my new project, doing this is harder than i thought. i have several nagants thats are nice, so i bought one for 79 bucks to "bubba" it up and make it something cool. i figured since i have so many 91/30's i can "sacrifice this one. I had an io m39 finnish sniper rifle that io invented but i sold it help fund another rifle...I took it apart and said oh this is how its done. well heres the rough draft but still have some work to do, gota send the bolt off to have a sniper handle installed. also have to get another posp cause this one belongs to my psl its an 8x, probably going to get a basic tip2 psop 4x for now. still have to finish milling to reciever to get the mount 100 stright....its slightly canted to the left.
